karmean asked: I just got a tablet & sketchbook pro .. Are there any tips/advice you have for people just starting out on digital sketching/painting? Love your work by the way!

I’ve never used sketchbook pro, so I can’t help you there. :P But in general, I remember reading before that the best way to improve is to make a ton of simple drawings, which I have to agree with. I would avoid doing too many huge projects and focus more on small things that’s purpose is just simple practice and enjoyment. That way when you have something big you really want to do, you’ll be more prepared. Although, if you’re anything like me and you come up with an awesome idea but you want to wait until you’ve improved, don’t. When that happens to me, even though I believe it’s the best idea I’ve came up with ever, I eventually come up with a better idea, then I never actually do the first one. You can always remake it if you’re not happy with it.
Also make sure to take advantage of everything your program has to offer. I’ve watch tons of tutorial for photoshop, but I usually forget them. So practice what you learn, too!  You don’t have to use everything in the program, but you should be aware of most of the things it can do.
And this usually goes for art in general, but it’s the best advice i can give: Push yourself!  Try different things! Use different brushes, try other artist’s techniques, use crazy colors and find out what goes good with what, try different mediums, use textures you’ve never seen before, scan things in, explore! If you’re not good at certain technique; drop it. If you’re not good a certain thing like poses, hands or outlines; try different approaches and practice. Don’t think it as you want to find a individual style that you’re comfortable with, think that you just want to constantly improve; your style will shine through the more you improve.

I reaaaaally hoped I helped. c: Also, Thank you a ton! I really like your blog. :3
